Mobile bike lanes. New to the Polish market!

Cities around the world are facing the challenge of creating safe and effective infrastructure for cyclists. The expectations are clear: bike lanes must be safe, easy to implement, and minimally invasive to existing pavement.

In response to these needs, we are proud to introduce Bike Line to the Polish market—a mobile and flexible system for building temporary and permanent bike lanes. This innovation has already proven itself in major cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt, New York, and Amsterdam, and is now available in Poland!

Top-Level Cyclist Safety

The Bike Line system is a new product from Horizont that is taking foreign markets by storm thanks to its ease of installation, stability, and safety. What sets this system apart?

The key is the patented edge in the guide barrier. In the event of contact with a vehicle, this edge redirects cars back onto the roadway, effectively protecting cyclists and preventing uncontrolled entry into the bike lane.

Test results: The guide barrier is extremely robust and stable. Tests have shown that a vehicle traveling at an impact speed of 80 km/h did not breach the barrier! Even in the event of a tire making side contact with the barrier, staying on the roadway is guaranteed.

Additionally, the anti-slip system ensures excellent traction for cyclists, regardless of weather conditions.

From Pop-Up to Protected: Testing the Infrastructure

Bike Line offers exceptional flexibility in planning cycling infrastructure. It’s worth starting with the Pop-Up Bike Lane option, which allows for quick and temporary implementation of a bike lane.

  1. Pop Up Bike Lane (Test Version): Installed in traffic yellow. This is the ideal solution for testing the usability, traffic volume, and public acceptance of a new bike lane system. This is a true breakthrough for temporary interventions, as the road surface remains intact, and the entire structure can be removed without leaving any marks on the asphalt.
  1. Protected Bike Lane (Permanent Version): If the temporary lane proves effective during the transition period and a decision is made to implement a permanent solution, the yellow barrier is replaced with a white one.

The guide barrier is stable and does not require screwing into the ground, and the individual parts are securely connected using a durable coupling hook and a locking screw.

It is precisely this flexibility, speed of installation, and safety that make Bike Line transform the way we think about bicycle infrastructure in Poland.
